Code of Practice and Regulation for Coaching
by Julia Miles - Thursday, 21 July 2011, 1:50 PM

Following a recent announcement that a few of the coaching bodies have jointly filed a Professional Code of Conduct to the EU, the Association for Coaching® (AC) would like to support this position, which very much aligns with some of the work completed in Feb 2008, when the AC and others from the UK Coaching Roundtable announced the Statement of Shared Professional Values (see http://www.associationforcoaching.com/news/M80221.htm).

We will be reaching out to connect with the other bodies, to expand upon and endorse these standards, and to support our view for the coaching industry to be self-regulating. In addition, the AC will be in discussions with representatives from the European Union to ensure that any further initiatives that relate to self-regulation will involve the AC and its membership base.

The AC firmly believes that to enhance the reputation of our profession, it is vital that all of the leading organisations which represent the coaching community continue to work together, in order to support our community in securing the long term sustainable health and status of the profession.

If you have any further questions, regarding the above, please do not hesitate to contact us on Globalteam@associationforcoaching.com.

In the meantime, we will keep you posted on any forthcoming developments that emerge from our discussions.

Kind regards,

Katherine Tulpa
